Faith Moves (part 2: Life is what you make it)

My journey has given me so many stories that every time I share something someone tells me that they were inspired by my testimonial. Sometimes that little extra motivation, or that little story that sounds just like our own is all we need to get us through our current storm. So, I decided to write a blog series titled "Faith Moves". The Faith Moves blogs will highlight the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of my journey as a way to help keep me focused on my goals, to show the up's and downs I went through along the way, to map out how far I've come, and to hopefully motivate more people to follow their dreams.

If you read the first Faith Move blog (click here to read) then you know that my family and I recently packed up and moved to Houston. This was truly a faith move because we moved not knowing what our future in Houston would be like, nor did we think much about what we would do if it didn't work out. This move forced us out of our comfort zone and made us start everything over. I decided to write this blog as I was thinking about how hard starting over really is and why it's so hard.

If you're not strong or don't have the right people around you, having to start over can break you down. There will be plenty of doubts, hard times, and low moments; but that's when you look to the people around you for strength, remember why you started your journey in the first place, think about all the things you can and will become, and re-focus your energy on accomplishing your goals.

Living in a city where you were born and raised most of your life makes life a bit easier. But when you work for yourself and your work in an industry where people come to you because they trust you (or trust the person that sent them to you), moving to a big city where you only know a few people can be very challenging! Despite my reputation in Cleveland I have to prove myself in Houston in order for people here to give me a chance. No one wants to spend money on a product that they've never heard of and everyone needs proof before they put their trust in you. Proving your worth can be a full time job!

To give myself some time to prove myself I decided to work in someone else's salon for a year or two as I save enough money to open my own salon. I knew that following in someone else's footsteps could help me grow and it could be a good stepping stone or starting point for me. So, I began working and writing out my plans to have everything in place by the deadline I set for my team and I. Since moving to Houston I have worked in three different salons. Each one was amazing, but I just couldn't ignore that little voice in my head saying "this is not where you're supposed to be". Even though I was meeting some great people I knew that I couldn't stay. I spent the last five years of my life building the Studio Lux brand. We worked hard to set the tone of the Studio Lux brand. I know what the brand represents for me and I know what it means to other people. I have to continue to build the Studio Lux brand; I just can't do anything different or settle for anything less. So, I took another leap and made another faith move. I left the salons and re-focused my attention in my own brand.

I love the quote "Your life is what YOU make it" because it motivates me to step up, take risks, and for for what I want. Making faith moves and taking risks is always scary, but the thought of living the rest of my life being haunted by what-if's is even scarier. If you're over thinking your situation because you don't want to make mistakes or you're afraid of failing, remember that a plan without action means nothing. You actually have to do something to make your plans work and your dreams come true. There will be a few bumps in the road but as long as you don't give up they'll only be learning lessons and you will be better because of them.

With all that being said, I think it's time... It's time to expand the Studio Lux brand and bring the RBexperience to another level. Studio Lux Houston is coming soon! We will have a grand opening meet & greet event with light food and refreshments, good music, giveaway's and more to help us celebrate. So stay tuned for the official Grand Opening Announcement.
