Faith Moves (Part 5: New Year New Goals)

2016 was an interesting journey for my family and myself. Things started off comfy and cushy but got crazy real fast when I started my Faith Move journey. I started the year with my own salon, having employees, a large client base, and a strong presence in the industry. But, I flipped all that upside down when we moved to Houston. I found myself in a big new city, where no-one knew my name, working in someone else's salon with no clients! For a minute I felt like I had just made the worst decision of my life, but I had to remember why I did it! I had to quiet those negative voices and focus on my dream and the goals I set to get me there.

Starting from scratch was hard but I was excited about the challenge. I started with no clients, but I ended my year with 183 Houston Lux Beauties in my books; with some of the best clients a stylist could ask for. I stayed focused on the light at the end of the tunnel and I WORKED HARD! But, I also got help. No one person can do it all alone, and no one person should try to. Especially if you're building a business. The best thing you can do for your business is to find the right people to put on your team, who believe in your dream and are passionate about what they do.

Business is going better than I would've ever imagined with the help of AMM. I have been able to build my business and my brand better than ever before. Having a brand manager has given me the freedom to focus less on the business details and more on what I'm passionate about. Now I'm more involved in the runway/high fashion side of things, which gives my alter ego so much life! lol Outside of being able to make women feel better about themselves on a daily basis I am super passionate about creating masterpieces for events such as fashion-shows, photoshoots, and editorial work.

With my clientele steady growing I started doing my research and finally got involved in my other love. The project fashion show was my first runway show in Houston, and I was so honored to be a part of it. It really pushed me to pursue the high-fashion/runway side of my passion. I participated in a few projects towards the end the year, and I ended my year with a bang by having my work published in Astound Magazine's "Boxed and tailored" section.

2016 Had an amazing end but it's just the beginning! I will continue to share my journey in my Faith Moves blog series, so stay tuned for what's in store for 2017.

A little sneak peak: My family is settling down and really starting to love Houston. They're meeting new friends and getting involved in more activities. My personal fitness and health journey is on track, and I'm excited about reaching even more of my personal goals and inspiring others to do the same this year. My husband is finally taking his leap by going for what he always wanted in life. I am so proud of him and excited to see how his journey unfolds. All I can say is life is great! We are all truly blessed. I want to start the New Year off by wishing all my family, friends, and Lux Beauties a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year! I look forward to seeing some great things happen for us all in 2017!
